Arts Programme

Námsleið: Arts Programme

The goal of studies in an artistic study programme is to give the student a basic foundation and to prepare them for further studies on a university level or in other specialised schools. The programme is divided into core subjects, area of specialization, and electives. All students in a study programme take the same core subjects.  Specialty subjects give students specialised learning in the area of study the student has chosen such as: design, clothing and textile design, multi-media studies, ceramics, film studies, ballet, mass media design, visual arts, and music. The programme is taught either in the relevant school or a recognised art school.

Artistic study programmes are three years in duration and students receive an artistic study programme diploma at completion. Students wishing to also receive a matriculation diploma can take academic courses in addition to their other studies and therefore earn the right to admittance to university.
